RAFAEL

I stare at my phone, sitting bolt upright in bed.

ELLIE:

Can I see you?

Oh, boy.

It’s been a few days since the dinner where Ellie made my heart pound like a drum, my mind filled with all kinds of possibilities until she’d cut it short, going to bed.

I get it—she’s engaged, and I love that she’s not a cheater.

But is it cheating if it’s with who you’re meant to be with?

I’ve not seen Hallie since I had dinner at Logan’s with Ellie, unable to lie to myself or Hallie. I want what I feel when I’m with Ellie, and it isn’t fair on Hallie to lead her on.

I push my assignment aside, not giving a flying fuck about which muscles need stretching and how.

RAFAEL:

Of course, do you want to come here, or do you want to grab a coffee?
